The Polasek presents a workshop about the healing value of collaborative art presented by artist Marla E. Participants will create mixed media sculptural lanterns resembling fireflies that will become a temporary installation on display in the Polasek’s gardens during the Summer of Love exhibit and take home a lantern to keep. Summer of Love Workshop

The Polasek’s summer book club selection, Mislaid by Nell Zink, pairs perfectly with the themes in the Summer of Love exhibit, exploring the making and unmaking of the American family in the 1960s that lays bare all of our assumptions about race, racism, sexuality, and desire. Join book club participants for a discussion and gallery tour. Registration required.

Discover the challenges and triumphs of documenting the historic narrative of the Pulse tragedy and other culturally significant events with Orange County Regional History Center Director Michael Perkins. Perkins will discuss the healing nature of this project and its challenges. The presentation at the Polasek Museum will be followed with an informal gallery tour. Registration required.
