“In his own words, Albin Polasek’s supreme achievement in sculpture was the Victorious Christ, commissioned by St. Cecelia’s Cathedral in Omaha, Nebraska, in 1939. The seven-foot figure on a fifteen-foot cross adorns the high altar of the Cathedral, designed by architect William L. Steele.

This resin piece affixed to a 12” wooden cross depicts the dying Christ, yet shows no defeat. In fact, it portrays an uplifted head and a spirit of triumph as He uttered the words, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do!” The victory represented in this piece echoes the same spirit by which the Czech-American sculptor lived his life.”
