Watercolor Painting Workshop: The Joy of Watercolor!

Join Central Florida Watercolor Society members, Cindy Sturla and Kim Minichiello (President of the Florida Watercolor Society, 2019) for a 1 or 2 day watercolor workshop at the Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Gardens.   Workshop will begin with a demonstration and discussion, followed by one-on-one instruction. The class is suitable not only for beginners, but also for advanced level artists who are looking to hone their skills.

Cindy Sturla – Basic Watercolor Techniques & Visual Journaling

Cindy will cover basic watercolor techniques, including color mixing, doing washes and glazing. She will also discuss visual journaling – a practice that can be enjoyed at any level & has become so popular recently!

**Bring an unlined travel-size sketch book. It can be one with watercolor pages or not. Cindy will bring journals she has done the last few years.

Kim Minichiello – Paint a Precious Pollinator

Join Kim on Sunday as she guides you on key components that are essential to painting in watercolor successfully.  Learn her techniques on painting boldly with rich color as you follow along step-by-step to paint a water lily.  Kim will be using a limited palette to teach you color theory and mixing. All levels are welcome!

Pre-registration required. Class size will be limited so that each student will receive individualized attention. Registered students will be emailed a suggested supply list for the class.

General Public: $210, both days or $110 for one day

Museum Members: $180, or  $90 for one day


About the Instructor(s): Cindy Sturla and Kim Minichiello

Cindy Sturla has been painting in watercolor for over 25 years as a professional artist and instructor. She studied fine arts in college and primarily painted in oils until moving to Florida and pursing watercolor “en Plein air”.  Cindy is a founding member of the “Plein Air Painters of Central Florida” and has since shown her work locally and statewide at art festivals and Invitational Paint Outs around Florida, including the Winter Park Paint Out.  She is a past president of the Central Florida Watercolor Society (2012-2015) and enjoys promoting watercolor painting as a medium.

Kim Minichiello‘s career in art and design has spanned over 30 years.  As a designer for Walt Disney Imagineering, she lived in Europe and Asia, working on Disney Parks worldwide.  It is the love of nature, travel, and foreign cultures that inspires her work.  Kim is a member of fifteen art societies, and a signature member of four.  Exhibiting her work throughout the United States, Europe and Asia, she has won awards in national and international painting exhibitions and was featured in Watercolor Artist Magazine.  She teaches workshops internationally based on her studio and plein air work.
